40th Anniversary Asia Festival

Program of Events

Massed Ringing

The Massed Ringing will be rehearsed and performed at the Final Concert by the entire group at the Final Concert. There will be two Massed Ringing pieces by two conductors from the HRJ.

Group Massed Ringing
The large group will be put into two different groups for the Group Massed Ringing. We are planning conductors from Japan, USA, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore.
※Conductors and repertoire will be announced shortly.


Workshop
All registrants of the Asia Festival will be able to attend up to 3 workshop sessions from a variety of workshops offered by experienced musicians/conductors/directors. There will be many sessions that will provide skills and musicality for handbells. International workshops will also introduce cultures from the many different countries represented.
Workshop details will be released in the Spring of 2017.


Festival Choir
The Festival Choir will meet at the workshop sessions to rehearse for the Final Concert performance.
Group A & B will each have an Advanced group and Intermediate group with 2 directors from Japan and one each from the USA and England. Those who choose to ring in the Festival Choir will not be able to take other workshop classes. Details will be released in the Spring of 2017


Solo Concerts
All groups that will participate can choose to perform a Solo Performance at the Festival.
The concerts will be held on August 19th and will be open to the public.


HRJ 40th Anniversary Ceremony
August 19th (Sat), 40th Anniversary Ceremony will be held.


Final Concert
On the last day of the Festival, the Final Concert will be held at the Sendai International Center. Tickets will be sold to the general public. Massed Ringing, representing choirs from participating countries and the Festival Choir will perform.


Others
Handbell Ringing Basic Techniques, Social Events, and exhibitions will be introduced for registrants to learn about the history of the HRJ in the past 40 years.
